Objectives: To investigate the incremental value of fusion low-dose CT combined with 99mTcO4- SPECT to identify benign and malignant thyroid nodules.
Methods: This is a prospective clinical study. There were forty-one patients with thyroidism nodule, who received early planar imaging (25-30 min) and low-doseSPECT/CT tomography imaging (170Kv,70mAs) as well as SPECT/CT fusion imaging (30 min) after intravenous 99mTcO4-. The imaging results were compared the surgical and pathological results.
Results: Twenty-four patients were found to be benign lesions, twenty were malignant lesions, and four patients combined with benign and malignant nodules. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy and Area Under Curve (AUC) of low-dose SPECT/CT fusion imaging were 61.90% , 53.33%, 63.41%, 0.680, respectively; however, the planar imaging were 19.05% , 45.00% , 31.70%, 0.365.
Conclusions: Fusion low-dose CT could be provided incremental value for 99mTcO4- SPECT in the identification of benign and malignant thyroid nodule.
