Abstract

2715

Objectives To determine the impact of antioxidants on cellular damaged caused by low level of ionizing radiation

Methods A systematic review of significant and recent data that would contribute to the relationship between antioxidant and cellular damage caused by ionizing radiation. My literary research will include, but is not limited to, if there is evidence in reducing cellular harm from radiation exposure with increasing awareness of antioxidants in patients and in technologists. I will also look at possible side effects and toxicities of antioxidants, which antioxidants may have the most protective effect against cellular damage and DNA mutation, and the effective dose of these antioxidants.

Results Still Pending

Conclusions Although nuclear medicine may only contribute to a small amount of exposure it is worth incorporating antioxidants into a routine to protect against any cellular damage, regardless how minimal.
