RT Journal Article SR Electronic T1 Should Antioxidants Incorporated into ALARA? JF Journal of Nuclear Medicine JO J Nucl Med FD Society of Nuclear Medicine SP 2715 OP 2715 VO 56 IS supplement 3 A1 Rotman, Cara YR 2015 UL http://jnm.snmjournals.org/content/56/supplement_3/2715.abstract AB 2715 Objectives To determine the impact of antioxidants on cellular damaged caused by low level of ionizing radiationMethods A systematic review of significant and recent data that would contribute to the relationship between antioxidant and cellular damage caused by ionizing radiation. My literary research will include, but is not limited to, if there is evidence in reducing cellular harm from radiation exposure with increasing awareness of antioxidants in patients and in technologists. I will also look at possible side effects and toxicities of antioxidants, which antioxidants may have the most protective effect against cellular damage and DNA mutation, and the effective dose of these antioxidants. Results Still PendingConclusions Although nuclear medicine may only contribute to a small amount of exposure it is worth incorporating antioxidants into a routine to protect against any cellular damage, regardless how minimal.
