Overview of current available alpha emitters for alpha radiation therapy and treatment of cancers.

Objectives To review the effects of alpha emission on tissues. To review the current available alpha emitter radio-tracers for treatment of cancers. To review the advantages and disadvantages of alpha radiation therapy versus beta radiation therapy.

Methods Extensive literature search for articles related to alpha therapy, effects of alpha emission on tissues, current available alpha emitter radio-tracers and comparison to beta radiation will be reviewed.

Results 1. Brief review of alpha emission and effects of alpha emission on tissues. 2. Overview the current FDA approved and under investigation available alpha emitter radio-tracers for treatment of cancers and update of possible future FDA approval. 3. Complete explanation of alpha radiation therapy versus beta radiation therapy.
