    (A) In mice given 20 wk of telmisartan treatment, 18F-FDG accumulation levels in blood, muscle, liver, and spleen were significantly higher in moderate-dose group and high-dose group than in control group. (B) After 3-wk treatment cessation, 18F-FDG levels in blood and organs were same as those in control group. *P < 0.0083 for Bonferroni post hoc test vs. control group.

    Autoradiographic images of 18F-FDG in kidney sections. Red arrows indicate medulla, and blue arrows indicate cortex. In mice before start of telmisartan treatment (*1), 18F-FDG markedly accumulated in inner part of medulla. During telmisartan treatment, intensive accumulation of 18F-FDG in inner part of medulla markedly decreased to be as low as that in cortex. Two or 3 wk after treatment cessation (*2), gradual recovery of 18F-FDG accumulation was observed at inner part of medulla. w = weeks.
