In patients with thyroid cancer, diagnostic SPECT/CT has incremental value over planar whole-body scintigraphy. In the patient illustrated here, the planar static view shows 2 foci of activity. SPECT/CT clarifies that the left focus represents thyroid remnant tissue in the thyroidectomy bed, and the right focus corresponds to a nodal metastasis.
