Abstract

1209

Objectives: It is difficult to educate the thyroid patents planned for radioactive iodine ablation in current busy hospital environment. We made a simple E-Learning system for education of thyroid patients about radioactive iodine therapy to improve their understanding of disease and treatment course. Methods: The self E-Learning system for education of the patients planned for radioactive iodine ablation therapy consists of mht files converted from the power point slides, which contained texts, figures, voices and some dynamic graphics. The mht files transferred via E-mail or CD to the patints and could be executed automatically on patients’ personal computers repeatedly without any sophisticated program or operation. Results: The simple self E-Learning system was effectively operated on patients’ personal computer. The quality of transferred images and context were fair to improve patients’ understanding of their disease and shorten the doctor’s time to educate the patients. Conclusions: The simple self E-Learning system for education of thyroid patients about radioactive iodine therapy was developed and operated properly to improve the patients’ understanding and save doctors’ time. Further studies including a lot of patients may be warranted.
