A 68-y-old man (patient 2) who had undergone MV replacement with Maze procedure. Reduction in uptake of 123I-MIBG and increase in WR were observed 10 d after surgery in lateral region (arrows). These changes resolved 1 y after surgery. Pre = preoperative images; 10 d = images 10 d after surgery; 1 y = images 1 y after surgery; SA = short-axis images; HLA = horizontal long-axis images.

A 60-y-old woman (patient 12) who had undergone MV replacement without Maze procedure. Distribution of 123I-MIBG exhibited no regional change after surgery. Pre = preoperative images; 10 d = images 10 d after surgery; 1 y = images 1 y after surgery; SA = short-axis images; HLA = horizontal long-axis images.

Correlation between changes in H/M, WR, and LVEF: correlation between changes in H/M and LVEF (A) and that between changes in WR and LVEF (B). •, Changes between before surgery and 10 d after surgery in Maze+ group; ○, those of Maze− group; ▪, changes between 10 d and 1 y after surgery in Maze+ group; □, those of Maze− group.
