Abstract

AIDS: In September 1999, the Los Angeles County Commission on HIV Health Services (LACHHS) approved the document Guidelines for Implementing HIV/AIDS Medical Nutrition Therapy Protocols. The guidelines are part of a collection of standards of care for people with HIV, and are designed for a variety of audiences, including medical practitioners and people with AIDS. Medical nutrition therapy includes nutrition screening, referral, assessment, and intervention. The document includes sections on client rights, dietitian referral, and benefits of therapy.
