Hypoxia induced changes in lung fluid balance in humans is associated with beta-2 adrenergic receptor density on lymphocytes
2012, Respiratory Physiology and NeurobiologyCitation Excerpt :In the present study we determined β2AR density using radioligand binding on lymphocytes. Although the amount of adrenergic receptors on lymphocytes has been shown to be related to the number of adrenergic receptors in heart tissue (Qing et al., 1997), future studies should employ a more direct assessment of β2AR changes on the lung tissue with hypoxic exposure, such as positron emission tomography. The assessment of lung water remains difficult.
