Clinical implementation of deep learning contour autosegmentation for prostate radiotherapy
2021, Radiotherapy and OncologyEffect of accounting for interfractional CTV shape variations in PTV margins on prostate cancer radiation treatment plans
2018, Physica MedicaCitation Excerpt :Systematic and random errors of setup and organ motion have been considered in a number of studies to estimate PTV margins in prostate cancer radiotherapy [8–12], in which proximal seminal vesicles (SV) are usually included in the CTVs in intermediate- and high-risk prostate cancer cases [13–15]. However, the studies of van Herk and others [2–7] have not accounted for CTV shape variations with rotation and deformations in their margin formulas. Image-guided patient positioning (IGPP) systems have been employed to reduce the systematic and random errors in terms of translation and rotation errors by the use of on-line correction systems.
Interobserver variability of clinical target volume delineation in soft-tissue sarcomas
2014, Cancer/RadiotherapieCitation Excerpt :This problem is well known in modern radiotherapy treatment planning in several cancer sites but little is known regarding the variation in GTVs and CTVs delineation in soft-tissue tumours [2,4,14–21]. Until a few years ago, according to several authors, the definition of target volumes in soft-tissue sarcoma could be geometric or corresponding to a concept of a compartmental volume [22–29]. The present observational study reports the results of a multi-institutional dummy-run designed to estimate the consistency of interobserver variability in clinical target volume delineation in two different cases of soft-tissue sarcomas in which postoperative and preoperative radiotherapy were prescribed, respectively.
Physical considerations on discrepancies in target volume delineation
2009, Zeitschrift fur Medizinische PhysikMolecular PET/CT Imaging-Guided Radiation Therapy Treatment Planning
2009, Academic RadiologyCitation Excerpt :The only published study on 68Ga-DOTA-TOC reported a substantial impact on target volume delineation in intracranial meningiomas when compared to CT and MRI (262). Historically, GTVs were defined on high resolution anatomical images despite the limitations of these techniques (263–268). CT can provide useful anatomical information and the electronic density required for dosimetry calculations for RT treatment planning.
