A rat model of ferric chloride induced carotid artery thrombosis was established according to literatures described earlier (Kurz et al., 1990; Wang et al., 2006). Sprague-Dawley rats (n = 48) were divided into six groups (negative control group, positive control group, CLP tablet group and low, middle, high dose CLP submicron emulsion group).
