Clinical usefulness of myocardial scintigraphy in patients with vasospastic angina
2020, Journal of CardiologyCitation Excerpt :Myocardial scintigraphy is more useful to detect some ischemic findings than just exercise test. As shown in Table 1, in 326 patients with VSA including 198 patients with exercise-Tl and 128 patients with pharmacologic stress-Tl, abnormal Tl findings were observed in 199 patients (61.0%), while sensitivity of Tl was 59.2% [15–22]. It was significantly lower than the sensitivity of BMIPP, as shown in Table 2.
Impact of multi-vessel vasospastic angina on cardiovascular outcome
2019, AtherosclerosisCitation Excerpt :The possible pathophysiologic mechanisms for the poor clinical outcome of multi-vessel VSA are suggested below. Patients with multi-vessel VSA have a more severe, extensive and prolonged myocardial ischemia who are more likely to have lethal arrhythmias and sudden death than those with single vessel VSA [10,11,18,19]. In addition, the fibrinolytic function is more impaired and the incidence of refractory angina during hospitalization is higher in patients with multi-vessel VSA than in single vessel VSA or control group [10].
Effect of coronary artery spasm on long-term outcomes in survivors of acute myocardial infarction
2018, International Journal of CardiologyCitation Excerpt :When the incidence of revascularization was compared between coronary arteries with and without CAS, target vessel revascularization was similarly frequent in the culprit coronary arteries with than without CAS (20 [14%] of 139 arteries vs. 36 [12%] of 298 arteries, respectively, p = 0.54 by chi-square test). Previous retrospective studies showed that there is a risk of life-threatening arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death in patients with CAS [10–12]. However, the present prospective study showed that the presence of CAS induced by ACh did not increase the incidence of the primary composite endpoint that consisted of cardiac death and ACS in AMI survivors.
