RT Journal Article SR Electronic T1 Blastomycosis: the role of ga-67 and bone scintigraphy in diagnosis and management. JF Journal of Nuclear Medicine JO J Nucl Med FD Society of Nuclear Medicine SP 1265 OP 1265 VO 57 IS supplement 2 A1 Wein, Melissa A1 Lath, Chinar YR 2016 UL http://jnm.snmjournals.org/content/57/supplement_2/1265.abstract AB 1265Objectives To review the role of Gallium-67 citrate and Bone Scintigraphy in the diagnosis and management of disseminated Blastomycosis for presentation in an oral or poster format. Methods We reviewed several Gallium-67 citrate and Bone Scintigraphy studies performed between 2008 and 2014 in patients with disseminated Blastomycosis infection. Results Inhalation of Blastomyces dermatitidis spores in endemic areas of the upper midwestern United States and Canada may result in disease limited to the lungs or in disseminated disease most commonly affecting the skin, bones and, rarely, the central nervous system or genitourinary tract. We present several cases of disseminated Blastomycosis with manifestations in the lungs, bones, skin, and central nervous system. Conclusions Recognition of the epidemiologic factors, pathogenesis, and patterns of disseminated Blastomycosis is essential for practitioners of nuclear medicine. The presentation and discussion of cases presented from our institution in the form of an educational exhibit offer an effective review of this interesting entity.
