RT Journal Article SR Electronic T1 Pitfalls of 11C-methionine PET/CT in a serise of patients with tumors and tumororal lesions JF Journal of Nuclear Medicine JO J Nucl Med FD Society of Nuclear Medicine SP 1233 OP 1233 VO 57 IS supplement 2 A1 Ito, Kimiteru YR 2016 UL http://jnm.snmjournals.org/content/57/supplement_2/1233.abstract AB 1233Objectives The objectives of this exhibit is to introduce pitfalls of 11C-Methionine(Met) PET/CT imaging in patients with intracranial lesions.Methods I describe characteristics of the 11-C Met imaging in various diseases and physiological uptake, which caused false positive and negative, such as anatomical variation; vascular disorders; inflammation or dysplasia; and benign brain tumors.Results Many diseases and factors of 11C-Met PET/CT can potentially affect image interpretation and cause false positives and negatives because 11C-Met PET uptake reflects the expression of amino acid receptors, cells with high avidity for amino acids, and the amount of blood vessels.Conclusions Familiarity with the pitfalls of 11C-Met images could help prevent unfavorable clinical results caused by misdiagnoses.
