Why are these calls so common in nuclear medicine day to day operations? Since working with computers is routine for nuclear medicine technolotgists we are responcible for troubleshooting any data related issues i.e. dicom transfer failed or patient transfer failed. Methods Over the past 6 months my associates and I tracked every customer call relating to a dicom/patient transfer error. Once the case was logged we followed through with either a resolution or an escalation to service. After compiling the data I was able to display the results in a table. Results Over the past 6 months my associates and I had recieved 49 calls about dicom transfer errors. 43 of the 49 calls were resolved through troubleshooting via telephone (88%) 6 of the 49 calls had to be escalated to a nuclear medicine service engineer (12%) What resolved the issues per the 43 calls resolved via telephone 16 calls were resolved after rebooting computer, router or camera (37%) 8 calls were resolved after clearing transfer que per sending computer (19%) 6 calls were resolved after restarting dicom server (14%) 6 calls were resolved after deleting patient data (14%) 4 calls were resolved after editing patient dicom information (9%) 3 calls were resolved by transfering patient data again (7%)Conclusions Over half of patient transfer errors can be resolved by rebooting your computer, router and/or camera. This will restart the dicom server and clear any transfer ques that may be causing the problem.
