Methods GFR was measured in 161 living kidney who prepared to be donors using the 99mTc-DTPA renography according to standard procedure (gates method). All the subjects were divided into four age groups, namely 20-29 years (n=52), 30-39 years (n=44), 40-49 years (n=38) and≥50 years (n=27). On the other hand, patients who according with the requirement of being donor were divided into the groups older than 55 years (n=24) and younger than 55 years(n=137). The effects of age and gender was evaluated on renal function. Results The total GFR [ml/min-1*(1.73 m2) -1] in living kidney donors was calculated as 89.55±12.87 ---for males it was 90.47±13.29 and for females 87.17±10.65, and no significant difference were seen between males and females(P>0.05). The GFR in the first to the four age groups were (8.27±12.29), (91.85±14.51), (89.25±11.26), (88.24±13.20). The GFR in the donors older than 55 years and younger than 55 years were (88.57±13.14), (89.44±10.34). There were no significant difference between derived mean GFR values in age groups (p>0.05), and when relating GFR to age in all the donors, There was no significant correlation(r=-0.033, P=0.69). Conclusions 99mTc-DTPA renography are reliable and reproducible for the determination of GFR in living kidney donors. The GFR is not correlated with the change of age, and there was no significant difference between sexesTable 1. GFR of different groups ( )GFR:ml/min-1*(1.73 m2)-1
