Patients and other physicians often have dose concerns and we are expected to understand and address these issues. We also bear the ultimate ethical and legal responsibility for assuring that diagnoses are attained with the lowest reasonable dose to the patient. In some cases this could also mean not performing a test or even doing a different one. This exhibit should help assist you in learning the delivered dose of common procedures. Also explained is their context to natural radiation exposures. We will review a variety of clinical scan types and the radiation dose that patients might receive from these procedures. These will be placed into a context of the radiation dose delivered from other tests in Nuclear Medicine and Radiology. Additional comparisons will also be made to naturally occurring sources of radiation. Issues per ALARA/ALARP and Eurotom guidelines will also be addressed. Current legal and ethical issues will also be reviewed. By utilizing a quiz format, this should help to teach physicians, technologists, and patients about radiation dose and related concerns %U
