To feature the uncommon sites of extramedullary myeloma demonstrated by PET/CT imaging of the head and neck, thorax, abdomen and pelvis, and 2. To discuss the impact of PET/CT in the diagnosis of this aggressive and advanced stage of multiple myeloma. Extramedullary disease occurs in 15-20% of already established cases of multiple myeloma and develops in an additional 15% of cases during the course of this disorder. The extramedullary disease involves preferentially the head and neck but can be found in any system or organ of the body. Extramedullary involvement usually signals an aggressive stage of multiple myeloma with rapid progression, and poor outcome and survival rate. This exhibit presents the uncommon sites of extramedullary myeloma encompassing the central nervous system, paranasal sinus, thyroid, thyroid cartilage, pericardium, liver, pancreas, kidney, skin and muscles detected by F-18 FDG PET/CT. This exhibit also discusses the significance of PET/CT diagnosis of extramedullary myeloma in the prognosis and outcome of this disease ER -
