New Generation Fetal Dose Estimates for Radiopharmaceuticals

Abstract

Radiopharmaceutical dose estimates to the embryo/fetus are presented for a number of radiopharmaceuticals. New generation (RADAR/ICRP 89) reference phantoms are used for the dose estimates. Differences in masses of relevant fetal and maternal organs are provided. Dose estimates are provided for early pregnancy, and at 3, 6, and 9 months’ gestation. These estimates provide a significant update on the 1997 dose estimates that are widely used for this application.
