Objectives: To evaluate the value of 18F-FDG PET/CT in the prognosis evaluation of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).
Methods: We searched for articles published in PubMed, ScienceDirect, Embase database from January 2011 to December 2018.A total of 51 articles related to 18F-FDG PET/CT in patients with DLBCL treated with standard R-CHOP chemotherapy were selected.
Results: Patients with same international prognostic Index (IPI) exhibit different prognosis after R-CHOP chemotherapy for the heterogeneity of DLBCL. Standardized uptake value max (SUVmax), SUVsum (sum of SUVmax), metabolic tumor volume (MTV), total lesion glycolysis (TLG) are commonly used in prognosis assessment. Regardless of the IPI score, baseline, mid-term and post-therapy MTV are all significantly related to both PFS and OS, however there is no uniform cut-off value regrettably. Baseline SUVmax and TLG are also related to PFS and OS while SUVsum has poor predictive value.
Conclusions: MTV measured in18F-FDG PET/CT is a feasible index for prognosis assessment in patients with DLBCL. Key words: 18F-FDG PET/CT, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, prognosis
