ABSTRACT

A pilot study was performed to demonstrate the feasibility of measuring a functional E.C.F. volume as a selenate space with sodium selenate labeled with 75Se. This volume of fluid closely approximated the established sulfate space. The facility with which 75Se can be measured on whole blood warrants further studies with this nuclide as a tracer.

Single case studies on dogs demonstrate reproductibility of measurements and fluctuations observed in the volume of fluid measured as a selenate space under different experimental conditions.
