ABSTRACT

One mC of 131IHSA was administered intravenously to each of 12 patients with malignant tumors, and they were scanned at 3, 24 and 48 hours. Positive delineation of the tumorous tissue was successful in cases with the cancer of the left maxillary sinus, metastatic focus of the left lower femur from pulmonary cancer, giant cell tumor of the left femur (Grade II), cutaneous metastases of the left thigh from pulmonary cancer, cancer of the larynx, and reticulum cell sarcoma of the neck.

We are endeavouring to increase the efficiency of malignant tumor detection by further improvement of the scintiscanner and by a search for substances with higher tumor specificity.
