ABSTRACT
A method of approaching the analysis of the radioisotope scan objectively using statistical testing with a digital computer is under development. Pulses from the pulse height analyzer of the scanner are summated at one second intervals and fed into a computer. By this means, variation in activity from adjacent areas can be evaluated for statistical significance. The computer's printer can then be used to print out scans graphically, allowing one to vary the background erase and contrast enhancement. Lesions can sometimes be clearly demonstrated by this technique when they can only be suspected on ordinary scans.
