ABSTRACT
Localization of radionuclide activity in the gallbladder was seen on delayed views following injection of 99mTc-labeled red blood cells for gastrointestinal bleeding in five patients. The mechanism for this unusual finding probably relates to labeling of heme, the biochemical precursor of billrubin. All patients had had prior transfusions. All but one had servere renal impairment, probably an important predisposing factor.
