ABSTRACT
Organ distribution data were obtained for rats following the administration of 75Se-selenomethionine in trace quantities by the intravenous, oral, subcutaneous, and intraperitoneal routes. The tissue distribution and the concentration of isotope were similar except shortly after administration when the expected high concentrations are present at the site of administration.
The addition of carrier methionine had little effect on the concentration and distribution of 75Se-selenomethionine. A reduction of more than 50% was observed in the plasma following the addition of carrier selenomethionine. Smaller decreases were also observed in the remaining tissues examined although the distribution patterns were similar.
