ABSTRACT
After the intravenous administration of 58Co-hematoporphyrin to a series of dogs, the lymph nodes, kidneys and liver showed the highest uptake of radioactivity. Radiosensitive tissues such as the duodenal mucosa and the bone marrow showed much less concentration of radioactivity. These findings, coupled with the marked vulnerability of the lymph cells to irradiation, raises the possibility of selective lymph node irradiation using appropriate radioisotopic metallo-hematoporphyrins.
