ABSTRACT
There are a number of clinical situations in which 132I can be substituted for 131I in radioiodine thyroid-uptake determinations. Serial determinations are possible using 132I with a significant reduction in the absorbed thyroid radiation compared with similar administered quantities of 131I. Repeat uptake values are reproducible and correlate well with other measurements of thyroid function in normals and hyperthyroid individuals. No special equipment is required so that ordinarily available counting equipment can be used.
